Five Climbers Still Missing

(Rec. 9 p.m.) CHAMONIX, August 11. Two missing French alpine climberg were reported safe at Chamonix early today, bringing to five the total still missing after the week-end’s blizzards. } A single-engined plane last night tried to drop penicillin to a mountain refuge on Mont Blanc where a Spanish climber lay stricken with pneumonia after getting lost in storms on the mountain. Blizzards forced the plane to turn back, but it was .reported that the Spaniard was being cared for, and wai not in serious danger. Earlier yesterday the bodies of three of a party of 10 Swiss mountaineer! missing oh Mont Blanc since Saturday were found by a search party. Two men and one woman perished : from fatigue and exposure Jn the Vallot refuge hut. where they sought shelter from the driving snow. Seven survivors were also in the hut Malenkov Entertains Attlee MOSCOW. August 10 Mr Georgi Malenkov, the Soviet Prime Minister, gave a dinner in Moscow tonight for Mr Attlee, Mr Bevan and the other British labour Party leaders who arrived tn Moscow by air this afternoon on their way to China. The Moscow Radio said that Soviet leaders present included Mr Molotov, Mr Nikolai Khruschev, Find Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party. Mr Andrei Vyshinsky. Deputy Foreign Minister. Mr "Anastas Mikoyan. Minister of Trade, and Mr Nikolai Shvemik, head of the Soviet Trade Unions. All eight members of the British delegation and Sir William Hayter, British Ambassador, were present. Tlae Moscow Radio said the dinner went off in a cordial atmosphere. The delegation arrived in a special Soviet airliner, and will spend two days in Moscow. They drove 25 miles to the south-west of Moscow for dinner in a stately country mansion among nine and silver birch forests—formerly the house of the Russiah writer Maxim Gorki.
