RADIO PROGRAMMES
Sir,—One wonders if the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, the Minister of Broadcasting, or the sponsors in particular ever listen to serials such as presented, particularly by 3ZB. Our politicians control broadcasting. They make laws on our behalf to punish crime; and yet they allow such suggestive serials as “The Confidence Man” and others just as bad to contaminate the minds of our young men and' women, suggesting to them “pointers,” how to do it and how to
get away with it. I have yet to read of one voice in our Parliament, or from our churches for that matter, Offering any objection to so much filth, which is polluting the air. The time is ripe for a clean-up. Let us cut out the talk of the moral behind the serial. The only moral is that several of them are degrading, to say the least.—Yours, CLEAN THE AIR. July 21, 1954.
