USE OF POWER IN M.E.D. AREA
ALLOCATION AGAIN EXCEEDED
Power consumption in the Christchurch Municipal Electricity Department’s area exceeded the allocation yesterday by 7 per cent., compared with 10 per cent, on Tuesday. Lake storage for power generation fell yesterday by 1.290,000 units to 75,090,000 units. This was rather less than the previous day’s fall. There has been some rain in the catchment areas.
No power cuts were imposed in the M.E.D.’s area yesterday. Area D, comprising Hillsborough, Woolston, Bromley, New Brighton, and Sumner, will have power cuts today if they are necessary.
