Underground Water Authority.—A formal objection to the council’s petition under the Underground Water Act, 1953, praying that it be constituted an underground water authority for part of the Heathcote County, was received from the Heathcote County Council at a meeting of the Lyttelton Borough Council. Notice of objection was also received from the Canterbury (N.Z.) Malting Company, Ltd. A committee consisting of Crs. F. Barrett. W. B. Laing and W. MOrris was appointed to investigate the position and report back to the council.
