AWARD FOR PLUMBERS AND GASFITTERS
INCREASE IN WAGES GRANTED (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 20. Workers covered by the New Zealand Plumbers’ and Gasfitters’ Award have been granted an increase of Id an hour, and some special allowances have been raised by the Court of Arbitration. The new minimum rates are 5s 2?d an hour, or £lO 9s 2d a week. Tradesmen on ship-repair work on board ships receive an extra IJd an hour, an increase of id. The boarding allowance for country work has been increased from 8s 7|d to 10s a day. The overtime rate for country work has been increased from 7d to Is IJd, and the use of a worker’s bicycle on his employer’s business is to be recompensed by a payment of 4s a week, instead of the previous 3s 6d.
