RESULTS OF FRENCH EXAMINATION
The Christchurch French Club has announced that in its oral French examination last week the silver cup for most points was won by Christ’s College. The winner of the senior division was W. P. Greenslade (Christ’s College), Margaret E. Hornby (Girls’ High School) was second, and J. A. Witbrock (Christ’s College) was third. Credit passes were gained by: Dorothy M. Watt (Girls’ High), Marie E. Scott (St. Margaret’s), E. D. Jones (Boys’ High), P. J. Gordon (Boys’ High), Elizabeth B. Allen (Rangi-ruru), Ngaio Francis (Avonside), Shona Hawker (Avonside), Rosita Holenburgh (St. Margaret’s), B. Sutton (St. Andrew’s), Bernadette Ellis (Sacred Heart), and D. G. Olds (Ashburton High). Passes were gained by: Esme V. Knight (Ashburton High), Phyllis Eatwell (Christchurch West), and Judith Hindin (Rangi-ruru). In the junior division Diana T. Jarman (Girls’ High School) was first. Ann Diehl (Avonside) was second, and A. N. Russell and J. B. Waldron, both of Christ’s College, were equal third. Credit passes were gained by: Joan P. Hopkins (Girls’ High), G. W. Bryant (Ashburton High), J. Watson (St. Andrew’s), J. D. Pask (St. Bede’s), R. B. Thomson (Boys’ High), and Wendy Martin (Avonside). Passes were gained by: Prudence M. Hilson (Rangi-ruru), Judith Goldstone (Sacred Heart), A. Barnett (Christchurch West). Maureen J. Lester (Rangi-ruru), Rosemary J. Ashton (Ashburton High), and Marlene Mitchell (Sacred Heart).
