ASSAULT CHARGE
ALLEGED AFFRAY IN AUCKLAND (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 17. As a sequel to an alleged affray in Old Mill road, Grey Lynn, on Wednesday night, when a man suffered a knife wound in his neck, Harry Scott, aged 37, a labourer, was charged in the Auckland Magistrate’s Court today that, with intent to do grievous bodily harm to Robert Theophilus Spencer, aged 65, he did actual bodily harm to Spencer. A remand by consent to August 2 was agreed to by Mr K. C. Aekins, who represented Scott. Mr Aekins asked for bail, ’but this
was opposed by Senior-Detective J. B. Finlay. Mr F. McCarthy, S.M., heard the application in chambers, and bail was refused.
