RIFLE SHOOTING
QUEEN’S PRIZE AT BISLEY (N.Z-. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 9 p.m.) LONDON, July 17. Major G. E. Twine, of Britain, today at Bisley, Surrey, won ’the Queen's Prize, championship of British Empire rifle shooting. His score was 278 out of a possible 300. Major N. Wa McCaw, of Britain, last year’s winner, was runner-up with 274. the start, W. Wakefield, a five-eighths, using a high punt with disconcerting effect on Air Force, for which J. Karawia was a sound last line of defence. Each side attacked in turn without showing any marked penetration, and at half-time neither side had scored. Sunnyside-Spreydon had several chances to kick goals from penalties, and eventually the full-back, R. Thompson, succeeded. Sunnyside-Spreydon, having the better of the game and playing with zest, aded three points to the score when R. Kinzett dribbled through and scored a try which was not converted. C. Willetts, centre three-quarters for Air Force, scored the only points for his side when he kicked a penalty goal, and just before time Thompson kicked his second penalty goal for Sunnyside-Spreydon. Sunnyside-Spreydon won by 9 points (a try and two penalty goals) to 3 points (a penalty goal). Mr L. West was referee.
