OBITUARY
MR G. RICHMOND (From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, July 18. The death has occurred of Mr Gordon Richmond, a well-known Takaka sheepfarmer, and in his day one of the Dominion's outstanding sportsmen. A son of Mr Francis Richmond, of the pioneer sheep station “Richmond Brook,” Marlborough, he was educated at Nelson College from 1898 to 1906. There he was a member of both the first fiftten and first eleven for several years and later he represented Nelson in both cricket and Rugby football
Taking up golf he won the Nelson club championship from 1913 to 1916 inclusive, was Miramar club champion in 1918, and the Manawatu open champion in 1918. He won the Nelson provincial championship in 1922, 1923,
