MAN KILLED CAR STRIKES REAR OF PARKED TRUCK (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 18. Gerrard Exton, a steelblender employed by the Ministry of Works at Mangakino, was killed in a motor accident at 11 pjn. on Saturday. Louis Robertson, also of Mangakino, the driver of the car, suffered cuts, abrasions and slight concussion. Mr Robertson’s car struck the rear of a parked truck during a fog. BOY DIES UNDER ANAESTHETIC INJURIES SUFFERED IN MOTOR COLLISION (New Zealand Press Association) MASTERTON, July 17. A four-year-old boy, Larry Symonds, of Heretaunga, died about 10.15 pm. yesterday while under an anaesthetic in the Masterton Hospital. He was receiving attention for head and facial injuries suffered in a motor accident in Featherston at 7 p.m. The boy was a passenger in a car with his parents, Mr and Mrs William Symonds, of 44 Heretaunga crescent, who were on their way to Heretaunga. Their car was involved in a collision with another vehicle. A piece of glass which flew out of Mr Symonds’s car struck the child on the head. The child was treated by Dr. J. Roberts and then taken to the Masterton Hospital.

CYCLIST DIES OF INJURIES Joseph Galbraith Dyer, of 98 Selwyn street, who was injured when the bicycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car driven by Gilbert Lincoln Henderson, of 188 Milton street, on July 8, died in the Christchurch Public Hospital on Friday. An inquest into his death was opened before the Coroner (Mr E. B. E. Taylor) on Saturday morning and adjourned sine die after evidence of identification had been given.

CARS COLLIDE ON H ILL ROAD ■ FOUR PERSONS INJURED (New Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, July 18. Four persons were injured in a headon collision between two cars on the Mount Cargill road on Saturday afterA passenger in one of the cars was rushed to the Dunedin Hospital, where she was immediately operated on in an effort to save her sight. She is Mrs Shirley Harris, of 23 Sheridan crescent. Upper Hutt. With her in the car were her three-year-old daughter, Diane Harris who suffered head injuries, and the driver, Mrs Isobel Percy, “of 34 Grey street, North-east Valley, who broke her nose and suffered other facial injuries. Diane Harris and Mrs Percy were also admitted to the Dunedin Hospital. The other car involved in the accident contained only the driver. The collision occurred on a sharp bend half a mile north of the highest point on the road. The driver of the second car, who was believed to be suffering from concussion, walked half a mile down the hill to a house, where a woman, after telephoning for an ambulance and the police, dressed a laceration in his lip and bandaged his arm. The man then left the house. The police eventually communicated with him at Port Chalmers about noon today.

MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED A motor-cyclist suffered head Injuries in a collision with a motor-car at the corner of North Avon road and North parade, Richmond, yesterday afternoon, and was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital at 5.25 pm. He is Leonard Herbert Hurrell, aged 60. of 288 Madras street. Mr Burrell’s condition last evening was reported to be satisfactory.
