MAN TRAPPED IN TRUCK

VEHICLE OVERTURNED ON RAILWAY LINE (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 16. A driver was trapped for 25 minutes when his truck crashed over the side of an overhead bridge on to the railway line about half a mile north of Owhango on the Te Kuiti-National Park highway today. He was Mr David Gwyn Edwards, of Raurimu. The truck was badly damaged, but Mr Edwards escaped with minor injuries. The truck came to rest upside down, and Mr Edwards was released by nearby residents. Trains were held up at Owhango and later a train went out to the scene of the accident and towed the vehicle along the line to the railway crossing to allow traffic on the line to proceed.

INJURED CYCLIST DIES A cyclist who suffered head injuries when he was involved in a collision with a motor-car in Oxford terrace, near the Bridge of Remembrance, on July 8, died in the Christchurch Public Hospital yesterday. He was Joseph Galbraith Dyer, aged 58, of 98 Selwyn street, Christchurch. RIDER OF POWER-CYCLE INJURED A man riding a power-cycle received an injury to a leg in a collision with a motor-car at the intersection of Durham street and Madras street at 1.10 p.m. yesterday. He was Lloyd Simpson, of 106 Matsons avenue. Papanui. He was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. The car was driven by John Anthony Kay, of Little Akaloa. CYCLIST INJURED Mr William Sinclair McAllister, of 398 Selwyn street, suffered head injuries when the cycle he was riding came into collision with a car driven by Mr W. Roskam at the intersection of Hagley and Moorhouse avenues early last evening. He was later admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where his condition was reported to be satisfactory.
