Captain J. W. Tinniswood, M.C., the Canterbury Regiment, has relinquished the appointment of G.S.O. 3, Headquarters, 3rd Infantry Brigade, and has been transferred to the Reserve of Officers with the rank of major. Captain (temporary Major) M. W. Glue has been appointed officer commanding the sth Independent Field Squadron, R.N.Z.E. Dr. R. Milnes Walker, professor of surgery at the University of Bristol, will arrive in Christchurch on August 18. After a week’s vacation in Canterbury he will conduct a three weeks’ course on special surgical subjects at the public hospital, where he will be attached as surgeon for that time. Mr J. H. Martin, manager for New Zealand of the Queensland Insurance Company Ltd., will retire on September 30. His successor will be Mr E. I. Kitto, manager of the Townsville branch of the company.—(P.A.) Mr Frank Newman, producer for the Canterbury Repertory Theatre Society, will judge the drama section of the Southland Competitions Society’s festival next month.
