NEW RAIL-CAR SERVICE
SOUTH ISLAND MAIN TRUNK (New Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, July 16. Rail-cars may be running on the Pic-ton-Christchurch section of the South Island Main Trunk line in six or eight months, according to Mr A. C. M. Gordon, the stationmaster at Blenheim. He expressed this opinion when asked at a meeting of the Blenheim Chamber of Commerce if he had any information about rail-cars for the South Island. Mr Gordon said he had information that the first of the rail-cars for the south was on the water, and two more were ready to be sent, and it was expected that others would be forwarded each month or so. “While we may not be the first to have a rail-car service,, there is an assurance that this section will not be the last,” Mr Gordon said.
