TRAP SHOOTING
COMBINED MEETING AT RANGIORA Conditions were atrocious for the combined shoot held by the North Canterbury and Belfast Gun Clubs at Rangiora on Saturday. Snow and a high wind made shooting difficult, but conditions improved as the day progressed. Clubs from all over New Zealand were represented, and some good performances were given. The programme, of four matches, was late in starting. In the first 10-target sweep there were 61 entries. The following gained possibles and divided the prize money:—L. W. Kerr, R. T. Whitham. W. Chalmers, B. G. Begg, A. Brown, A. Mortimer, R. McIlwrick, K. D. Smith, and S. O. Holmes.
The second match, a 25-target £lOO handicap match, attracted 70 entries. The Brize money was distributed in three secons. Those dividing the first section, with 15 on, were: Brown, E. Morrow 7 , Holmes, C. Gunn, and S. Geddes.
The next section was divided by the follo'ving, with 10 on: Holmes, R. H. Liddle, J. Dobson, E. Hammond, Gunn. P. Neville, R. G. Allan, E. Chisnail, C. C. Skinner, T. A. Everett, F. W. Inwood, W. Sutherland, Begg, A. Donald, A. J. Lancaster, and A. Mortimer. Gunn shot the
only possible for first money. The following, with 24 on, divided the remaining prize money: Holmes, Mortimer. Begg, Geddes, and Everett. There were 71 competitors In the second £lOO handicap match of 25 targets. Those who shot possibles and divided the prize money were: J. Bell, C H. Rowsell, Sutherland, C. L. Ball, and P. Kidd. A 15-target trophy match with optional sweep attracted 57 entries. Those scoring possibles were: A. Dorreen, F. W. Menzies, M. I. Boyce, B. Patrick, H. Murray, and K. D. Smith. The shoot-off resulted as follows: Menzies, 1, Boyce 2, Patrick 3, Smith 4.
