Increase in Fires
Fires attended by the Christchurch Fire Brigade in May totalled 68, against 62 in May. 1553. Calls attended, w, th those for the corresponding month last year in parenthesis, were: fires, 23 (22); chimney fires, 14 (10); hedge, grass, and rubbish fires, 4 (4); false alarms—automatic, 12 (13), justifiable, 8 (4), malicious, 6 (9).
