EXPORT-IMPORT BANK
Reorganisation Urged By President
(Rec. 7 p.m.) WASHINGTON, June 10. President Eisenhower said today the lending authority of the United States Government’s Export-Import Bank should be extended by 500,000,000 dollars.
The Presidept, in a formal statement, said “agreement was reached” among the Republican and Democrat leaders of the Senate and the House of Representatives to reorganise the oank which provides loans to foreign Governments. He said identical bills would be introduced soon in both Houses to carry out the reorganisation. . The President said proposed changes in the organisation of the bank stemmed to a degree from a recent mission to Latin-Americ# by his brother. Dr. Milton Eisenhower, President of the Pennsylvania State College. In addition to extending the bank’s lending authority it would also be strengthened by the creation of a bipartisan board of five directors to be appointed by the President and subject to Senate confirmation, he said.
