RANGIORA BRANCH The annual general meeting of the Rangiora branch of the Plunket Society was held recently in the John Knox Hall. Mrs C. W. Tyler presided over a large attendance of members, friends and representatives from tne Amberley, Cust, Loburn, Ohoka* Oxford,. Sefton and Woodend-Waikuku sub-branches. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of Mrs M. Jennings, a life member of the branch, who died recently. Sympathy was also expressed to Mrs R. S. Thompson in the death of her mother. Sprays were presented to Mesdames Tyler, R. H. Glubb, J. E. Gibbs, L. F. Rolton, G. Carpenter, M. A. Lane, and D. R. Hutchison, and Sister M. McIntosh. The treasurer reported a credit balance of £486 12s lid. Honorary life membership was conferred on Mesdames M. A. Lane and M. Smith, who had each given 31 years’ service to the society. Thanks were expressed to members of the Mothers* Club for their support during the year. After the business meeting Mr E. Ryde screened films of his recent overseas tour. The nurse’s report for the year ended December, 1953, was as follows: birth notifications, 245; mothers visited in nursing homes, 172; new baby cases, 232; visits to homes of babies, 916; visits to rooms by babies, 3518. MARSHLAND SUB-BRANCH A decision to hold a silver jubilee ball this month was made at the twenty-fifth annual meeting of the Marshland sub-branch of the Plunket Society. Mrs J. W. Niven, of the Christchurch branch, presided for the election of officers, which resulted as follows:—president, Mrs L. Hall; vicepresidents, Mesdames L. Kingston, S. Watson E Treleaven, and S. Lawson; secretary. Mrs C. Ching; treasurer, Mrs A Gibbs: committee, Mesdames Hopper, N. Treleaven, L. Allen, Fisher, R. Basher, Hendren, S. Erickson, Inwood, Harris, Gottermeyer, C. Allen, L.
