MOTOR-CYCLE RACING
RECORDS BROKEN AT ISLE OF MAN
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, June 10. Lap records were smashed in the Junior Clubman's Trophy race over four circuits of the T.T. course on the Isle of Man today.
The race was won by A. Palmer (8.5. A. with the time of Ihr 50min 39 2-ssec, at an average speed of 81.83 miles an hour. D. Wright (8.5. A. was third. The previous lap record for the 372-mile course had been 80.96 miles an hour, set up last year by D. Powell. All three place-getters bettered this time. A. King rode his B.S.A. to victory in the Clubman’s Senior T.T. after twice breaking lap records. His whole ride over the four-lap course took Ihr 45min 36sec, and his average speed was 85.76 miles an hour. John Denton (8.5. A. was second and E. Haldane (8.5. A. third. In the third lap, King returned the record speed of 86.70 miles an hour, which he bettered in the fourth lap. In this lap he average 86.86 miles an hour.
