CRAYFISH BOAT WRECKED
TOTAL LOSS IN DAGG SOUND CREW REPORTED SAFE (New Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL, June 11. The Eileen, a Bluff crayfishing boat, valued at between £7OOO and £BOOO, has been wrecked in Dagg Sound, in the Fiordland area, and is a complete loss. The crew is safe. News of the wreck was received in Bluff yesterday from the Eleanor, another boat fishing in the area, through the Portobello radio station.
The 42ft vessel, owned by Pasco Bros. (Stewart Island), Ltd., was not insured. She was comparatively new, and the latest English radio equipment had recently been installed in her. Her diesel engine was only one year old. Commanded by Mr G. Fisher, of Bluff, the Eileen left for the crayfishing grounds last Saturday. It was Mr Fisher's first trip to the grounds.
