MRS F. MCQUILLAN

One of the best-known members of the Woodend community, Mrs F. McQuillan, died recently. Failing health forced her retirement from the presidency last year. Mrs McQuillan was born in Ohoka and was educated at the Ohoka and

Rangiora Convent Schools. She became a nurse and worked in hospitals in both the North and South Islands until her marriage in 1924. Among her other interests was

croquet, and. she was a foundation member of the Woodend Club. At the time of her death she was secretarytreasurer.

During the war, with her nursing experience, she was an active member of the emergency precaution service. She was also during her years in Woodend a keen worker for the local branch of the Plunket Society; in this organisation she pressed strongly for the building of suitable Plunket rooms and these are planned to be built soon.
