COST OF TRIAL HOUSES
CHRISTCHURCH FIGURE LOWEST
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 3. The average net cost of a trial house is higher in Auckland than in any of the other main centres, according to tender prices submitted to the executive committee of the National Housing Council this morning. The committee was supplied with a detailed tender analysis for four identical houses in each of the four main centres. Tendered prices, after deductions to reduce extra work necessary, for each of the group of four houses, showed the following figures:—Auckland, £9003 16s 2d; Wellington, £8996 2s 8d; £7936 3s *Bd; Dunedin, £8321 13s. In analysing the tenders all ancil-
lary works and items not common to all tenders have been deducted. The average net cost a square foot worked out as follows:—Auckland, 44s lOd; Wellington, 44s 9d; Christchurch, 39s 6d; Dunedin, 41s sd.
