Silk Beaten New Zealand’s last chance of winning the contest disappeared when lan Caldwell, the 24-year-old Walker Cup player.holed from 15 yards to win with a three, and beat B. M. Silk, 3 and 2. A. R. Timms holed a six yards putt for a winning four at the and went on to beat Frank Deighton by one hole and give New Zealand hopes of at least a halved match until Gibbs s disaster. . The foursomes ended all square, eacn side having one win and the top game finishing on terms. Woon and Silk lost an opportunity In this particular game, and In the end had to put in a spirited recovery to tie with Jimmy Wilson and Frank They were 1 up at the long fourteenth, only to throw away the next two holes by three-putting each time.
