FIRST DAY AT HUTT PARK

TROTTING

LASSOLOC EXPECTED TO WIN The Colossal mare Lassoloc, which has had three wins and one second placing from four starts since being trained at Mataura by D. Todd, should have another win in the R. A. Armstrong Memorial Handicap on the first day of the Wellington Trotting Club’s winter meeting at Hutt Park tomorrow. Lassoloc was not disgraced when she was beaten by Dancing Years at Addington in May, and it is likely that she will be better suited by the longer, distance of tomorrow’s race. Her strongest opponent may be the Winchester-owned and trained mare, Gay Heritage which won at Addington last month. The Springfield Globe mare has developed well this season, and she should be well up to the class she will meet tomorrow. She will be bracketed with another smart pacer in Defiance, which fell in his race at Addington. Crafty Guy was unlucky in his races at Hutt Park last month. If he is more fortunate in the running tomorrow, he may gain a long overdue win. He will be bracketed with Hallstand, which has also been off the winning list for a long time. King’s Order, Lady Jane, and Sea Rover should do best of the other Canterbury horses in the race. Te Koi is the pick of the few North Island representatives. Large fields are carded for all races tomorrow, with southern horses predominating. As is usual at Hutt Park, southern horses should win most of the races. weather has been fine lately in Wellington, and the track is in perfect order.
