TRANSPORT FROM LYTTELTON
Sr, —Your attention is drawn to the remarkably inefficient transport arrangemerns between Lyttelton and Christchurch city. All old and infirm paeons or mothers with children rbould be advised tp travel by air rather than have to face the trek over hundreds of yards of windswept, unprotecied platform littered with timber and gear, which greets them on arrival in your city. There are no jams of assistance, by posters or load-speakers. The scene this morning at the station reminded one more of * flight of refugees than a crowd Of -dvilised persons arriving at a leading New Zealand city about 1 their normal course of business or pleasure. —Yours, etc, TRAVELLER May 1, 1954-
