A report issued by the chief stipendiary steward (Mr F. J. Beer) said that after an examination the doctor certified that Donald was unfit to drive as a result of the consumption of alcohol. The stipendiary stewards then suspended Donald’s driving licence until the end of the season—July 31 next. After the same race, W. K. Tatterson, driver of Gay Lad, was fined £5 for failing to obey the instructions of the birdcage steward before the horses went out to the track.
