MODERN SOCIETY
Sir, —What exactly is the point in “P.J.A.’s” latest effusion? Is he insinuating that those who do not see eye to eye with him are “The Glugs of Gosh”? Is the “Chosen Plan” that employed by that wonderful totalitarian State which extracts forced confessions by refined methods of torture, which takes cultured and holy men and reduces them body and mind to pitiable travesties of their former selves, which employs slave labour, and rules by terror all those who will not conform to its decrees? There must be some diabolic pressure exerted on those, who, living in a free country like this, are yet advocates of such a regime. They seem to be blinded to all sense of proportion, and one can only sadly wonder why.— Yours, etc., H.J.H. March 26, 1954.
