HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES
Sir, —Could someone enlighten the public as to why farmers get so many privileges? Today the farmer gets a rebate on his income tax for his daily paper, rebate on the price of petrol, exemption from the 30-mile rail restriction carting stock and wool. Now we see in “The Press” today that the farmers pay only half the heavy traffic fees up to six tons. If ever there was a group of people able to pay, it is the farmers of today.—Yours, etc., A. S. ROBERTS. March 26, 1954.
