POULTRY SHOW
WOOLSTON CLUB’S FIXTURE
A Black Orpington cockerel, exhibited by E. W. Tippins, was the champion bird in the poultry section at the ninth annual show of the Woolston Poultry Club yesterday. Mr Tippins also exhibited the best Australorp pullet and the champion heavy breed bird.
The standard of entries was good and competition, especially in the poultry classes, where entries were heavy, was widespread. Entries, totalling ’370, were slightly above those of last year. South Island championship certificates were awarded as follows:—Best game bird, R. Johnstone; best utility light breed. E. W. Tippins; best heavy breed, E. W. Tippins; best bantam, I. H. Lee; best homer pigeon, E. G. Ba-ber; best fancy pigeon, J. R. Nancarrow; best Yorkshire canary, H. J. Davey; best Norwich canary, G. Llntott; best budgerigar, Tracey and Mrs Tracey.
