WOMEN’S 440 YARDS RECORD BROKEN (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 26. In a brilliant solo swim, Miss Winifred Griffin broke Miss Marion Roe’s national 440 yards record at the Tepid Baths tonight. Miss Roe’s time was smin 28sec. Miss Griffin lowered the record to 5m in 21.2 sec. Miss Griffin’s time for the first 100 yards was a little more than 65sec, and* she swam the first 220 yards in 2mi.n 32sec.
