NEW TERMINAL AT WHENUAPAI
APPROVAL GIVEN BY CABINET *The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, March 25. The Cabinet has approved in principle the construction of an overseas terminal at Whenuapai airport at an estimated cost of £30,000. Its decision was announced by the Minister in charge of Civil Aviation (Mr T. L. Macdonald). Mr Macdonald said that for some tune officers of the Civial- Aviation Branch, together with overseas airline officials, had been studying numerous proposals and sites for a new building at Whenuapai. Officers of his department were investigating how the proposals submitted by the overseas airlines could be amended to enable them to come within the figure of £30,000. “The preliminary drawings for this
new terminal have only been recently completed, said Mr Macdonald. “They are now being subjected to professional scrutiny before the final working drawings and estimates are prepared.”
