APOLOGY MADE TO M.C.C.
INCIDENTS IN WEST INDIES PORT OF SPAIN, March 24. Sir Errol Dossanto, President of the West Indies Cricket Board of Control, has written to the M.C.C. apologising for the behaviour of some of the crowds during the English team's tour. At a dinner in honour of the M.C.C. team he said: “I regret that in these days cricket resembles more a battle than friendly rivalry, and I hope the authorities will take steps in the immediate future to ban bumpers before some terrible accident occurs. “I would like to apologise to the M.C.C. for the misbehaviour by the crowds in Jamaica, directed, I am assured, more against our own players than the visitors. We deplore inci-
dents, and I have apologised in writing to the M.C.C. secretary.” Sir Errol Dossanto deprecated allegations that the umpiring had been biased.
