PRESENTATION TO ARCHBISHOP
£2OOO TO BE USED TO FOUND BURSARY (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 24. Children of Auckland’s Roman Catholic schools today presented the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland (Archbishop J. M. Liston) with a cheque for £2OOO on the occasion of his golden jubilee celebrations. The money will be used to found a bursary for the education of a priest at the Holy Cross College, Mosgiel. Archbishop Liston was himself a professor at Holy Cross College, and in 1910 was appointed rector of the college. The award, which will be made annually, will be known as the Archbishop Liston bursary. The presentation was made after Archbishop Liston offered Pontifical Mass in the open air at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, where about 6000 children gathered.
