CANTERBURY CRICKET
Sir,—Canterbury cricket administrators would be well advised to look further afield than Christchurch city when selecting next year’s Plunket Shield eleven. Surely there are players of ability in South Canterbury Ashburton, and the West Coast who would merit a trial in big cricket. Country players in the Wellington area have long since demonstrated their superiority over those from Wellington city, and the same thing has since been shown in the Auckland province. New Zealand cricket will never be strong until a real effort is made to comb the whole country for promising talent taagme an All Black Rugby team without country players. It would not win a match.—Yours, etc
