CITY AND COUNTRY BOUNDARIES
ALTERATIONS PROMULGATED BY COMMISSION The transfer of about 870 acres from the County of Halswell to the City of Christchurch is provided for in a provisional scheme promulgated by the Local Government Commission on February 10, 1954. The area comprises a block of land traversed by Cashmere road, Sparks road, Halswell road, and Middle Lincoln road. It was the subject of a petition referred to the commission, its exclusion from the county and inclusion in the z city being requested by the county council and by the city council. Another boundary adjustment concerns a quarter of an acre comprising parts of Cashmere road, an unformed road and part of the beds of the Heathcote river and Cashmere stream. This area has been excluded from the county of Halswell and included in the Cashmere riding of the county of Heathcote.
