INDOOR BOWLS
BIG INCREASE IN NUMBER OF PLAYERS A big increase in the number of players taking part in the sport was shown in the annual report of the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association. The balance-sheet showed a healthy financial position. All affiliated clubs were well represented at the annual meeting. A record entry is expected for the New Zealand championships to be held in Christchurch in June. Officers elected were:—patron, Mr J. L Hay; president, Mr W. Wilmott: vice-presidents, Messrs H. Gough and D. R. Fleming; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr C. J. Cumberpatch; assistant secretary, Mr M. Penney; honorary auditor, Mr S. G. McKeitcii; executive committee, Messrs W. Hall, A. G. Blanch. J. Casserley, W. Jenkins, C. Baker, P. Ellis, Toon, J. J. Powell, Jackson. S. Fridd, E. G. Smith, W Thackwell, A. Cooper, C. T. Lascelles, W. F. Ellis, McKaskell, C. C. Holliss, R. A. Wilkinson, Kissell, and Andreasend. and Mesdames Blanch, Crowe, R. E. Pearce, and Ogden.
