TEST WON BY WEST INDIANS

KINGSTON, February 12. The West Indies (383 and -92 for two declared) won the second test at Bridgetown by 181 runs, when England (181 and 313) collapsed badly in their second innings. West Indies are now two up in the series of five. England, who faced a deficit of 494, fought back magnificently until lunch today. The overnight batsmen, Compton and Graveney, batted well up to f hat period, but England were again let down by the middle and tail-end batsmen, who crumbled against the varied attack.

Compton was out for 93 soon after the interval. England’s innings virtually ended there, as the last six batsmen mustered only nine runs. The last seven wickets, including Compton’s. fell for 59 runs. Of these Graveney scored 45 and carried his bat for 64.
