CHILD LOSES LIFE IN PAPANUI FIRE.—The home of Mr and Mrs E. G. Brophy, 10 Wilmot street, Papanui, after the fire which swept through the upper storey late on Saturday evening and caused the death of their son, Martin Wayne Brophy, aged 3 years 11 months. Gregory Brophy, aged 2 years, is in the Burwood Hospital suffering from burns. The third member of the family, David, aged 5 years, was rescued unharmed. The three boys were alone in the house at the time of the fire, which is believed to have started in a bedroom.
