Miss Mary McLean. Mrs 1. L. M. Coop, Miss K. O’Connor, and Mrs R. Austen Young have returned frnrn Wellington, where they attended the annua] meeting of the New Zealand Pan-Pacific Women’s Association. Miss McLean, who is Dominion president, also attended two meetings of the executive.

Mrs William Arriens, who has been visiting Holland, will join her husband. Dr. Arriens, who has been appointed Netherlands Consul at Perth, Western Australia, towards the end of March. Mrs Arriens formerly lived in Wellington when her husband was First Secretary at the Netherlands Legation. Of late her home has been at Oslo, Norway.

Mrs Brickhill, who with her husband. Mr Paul Brickhill, an Australian author, is visiting Auckland, worked for Norman Hartnell, the wellknown dress designer during the Coronation season. She said in Auckland that all the models were over-worked during that season, but it was an exciting time, as they saw al! the lovely frocks of the season. The Royal dresses Hartnell made, including the Queen’s Coronation gown, and those for Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother, the Duchess of Kent, and Prmcess Alexandra were displayed three days before the Coronation so that the workroom staff and the mannequins could see them. Mr and Mrs Brickhill intend to spend five or six months in New Zealand. Mr and Mrs D S Prince, of Palmerston North, recently celebrated the seventy-first anniversary of their wedding. They were married in Wanganui on February 6, 1383. when Mr Prince was 19 and Mrs Prince 18. They had six children, three of whom are still living. There are seven grandchildren, and 15 great-grand-children.

The Riccarton branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union held the first meeting of 1951 last week when Mrs H. Griffiths presided. Reports of the executive and of the New Zealand Alliance were given. It was reported that the mental hospital had been visited and Christmas fare and gifts given to several patients. Mrs D. Buggy was appointed delegate to attend the Dominion conference in Napier.

The New Zealand Red Cross Society has received an acknowledgement from the Greek Red Cross Society of 16 cases of footwear sent through the British Red Cross Society at the time of the Greek earthquakes. The message says: "We beg you to accept our warmest thanks and the deep gratitude of the earthquake victims* for your valuable and kind donation.” In addition the New Zealand Red Cross Society remitted £B7OO.
