BOUQUET FOR THE QUEEN
GIRL CHOSEN TO MAKE PRESENTATION
Ruth Cations, who is nine years old, has been chosen to present a bouquet to Queen Elizabeth when she arrives with the Duke of Edinburgh for the Royal cinema performance in the Regent Theatre on the evening of Thursday next week. The management of the theatre decided to hold a ballot for this honour among candidates nominated by seven children’s homes in Christchurch. The ballot was conducted yesterday morning by Mr C. S. Thomas, chairman of directors. Mr H. Waters, supervising director, and Mr R. Hall, manager for Christchurch Cinemas. Ltd. Ruth Cations, who comes from one of the Church of England children’s homes, will be coached by the wife of the theatre manager, who was formerly Miss Peggy Holmes. The bouquet will be presented in the circle lounge before the Royal party enters the auditorium.
