AUCKLAND HORSES FOR AUSTRALIA

Seven Auckland horses left recently for Australia, where they will be campaigned for the next few months. They were Billy Boy, Pearl Princess, Bank View, Gay Flash, Wee McGregor, Sky Bird, and General Grattan. Billy Boy started in the free-for-all at Harold Park last Saturday night, but he never appeared likely to win. The Bill B. gelding showed fair form earlier in the season, but failed at the New Zealand Cup meeting and again at the Auckland Cup meeting. He will race for several weeks in Sydney before going on to Adelaide, where he will contest the InterDominion Trotting Championship next month.

If Billy Boy settles down well he is capable of doing well in Australia. He was far from disgraced in his races at Addington in November and is not far short of the best classes. He is one of the best performers in bad ground in New Zealand.

Bank View and General Grattan have both won a race at Epsom this season, and they are the best-performed horses of the other six to accompany Billy Boy. The best of the pair may be General Grattan, which should do well on the small, turning tracks in Australia.
