EMPIRE FLAGS DISPLAYED
LEAGUE’S DECORATIONS FOR ROYAL VISIT Fifty British Commonwealth an colonial flags are flying from th veranda of a house in Purchas stree St. Albans. The home is that of th secretary of the New Zealand Empir Service League (Mrs E. A. Hotchkin Shaw). Members of the league bough the flags at a cost of £BO. The flags will be on display today, and during the Queen’s visit to Christchurch. The eight Commonwealth flags in the display each measure 4ft 6in by 2ft 3in. The 41 colonial flags, including the flag of Tasmania, measure 3ft by Ift 6in. “The object of our league is to make the British Empire a better place to live in and to set an example to the rest of the world,” said Mrs HotchkmShaw. “Everyone is welcome to come and see the flags.”
