DEPOSITING RIVER SPOIL
NEGOTIATIONS FOR LAND The acquisition of a suitable area of low-lying land on the bank of the Avon river upstream from the Avondale bridge for the disposal of spoil from the river is contemplated by the Christchurch Drainage Board. The finance committee of the board recommended to last evening’s meeting that the chairmen of the works and finance committees be authorised to approach the owners in an endeavour to obtain an option for the purchase of the land, subject to a satisfactory price being agreed upon.
