Christinas Gift to Pope.—The Pope today received two chairs as a Christmas" gift from 725 Roman Catholic craftsmen at a New York State furniture factory. Specially made of richly carved fine wood, the chairs are for his studies. A letter, signed by all 725 workmen, wished the Pope ever increasing success in his effort to “bring peace on earth to all men of goodwill.”—Rome, December 13.
