SCIENTIST RETURNS TO N.Z.

VISIT AFTER 30 YEARS OVERSEAS

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 15. Thirty years after leaving New Zealand to work under Lord Rutherford, Dr. D. H. Black has returned to visit his family in Nelson. He is accompanied by his wile, who also has relatives in Nelson. Dr. Black, who arrived today from Sydney, is head of the British Ministry of Supply staff stationed in Australia, and was an observer at the recent atomic tests at Woomera.

Before the war he was engaged in research on radio valves and similar matters in the industry in Britain. On the outbreak of war he joined the British Ministry of Supply. For two years to 1945 he was stationed in the United States, working on research projects connected with the development of valves.
