OTAGO BEATS CHRIST’S COLLEGE

“The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN. December 14 For the first time in many years. Otai Boys’ High School beat Christ’s College n the annual cricket match, Otago winning by an innings and 7 runs. Otago today added 23 runs to its Saturday score of 265 for six before the last wicket fell, giving it a lead on the first innings of 133 runs. J. W. Clarke had the best bowling analysis, taking four wickets for 54 runs.

Christ’s College was soon In difficulties in its second innings. I. Kerr, who with 85 was top scorer for Otago, took five wickets, bringing his total for the match to 12. Hutt Valley by seven wickets, when play was resumed this morning Wanganui needed 179 runs to win, having already made 17 in the second innings without loss on Saturday. The required total was reached shortly before 3 o’clock. The top scorer was H. B. Cave, who made 64 not out. J. A. Bergerson scored 38 not out. He took 11 wickets in this match for 129 runs. B. Jones also made 38. BANKS PENINSULA COMPETITION United drew with Combined and Le Bons beat Kaituna on the first innings in play in the Banks Peninsula Kinloch Cup cricket competition on Saturday. Combined made 194 (D. McPhail 76) and United replied with 127 for six (T. Morten 48, R. Harris 30). Bowling for United Morten took three for 24 runs, and I. Craw four for 44. For Combined, T. Hume took two wickets for 19 and McPhail two for 31.
