ILL-TREATMENT OF KITTENS
Sir, —If three children were nailed up in a small box and sent on a 12day journey with neither food nor water there would be a public outcry, and the perpetrator of the crime would probably be gaoled. Yet the same treatment was given to three kittens recently, with this result: the perpetrator of the crime did no bother to appear in Court. The Magistrate referred to the case as a “regrettable incident.” A fine of £3 was imposed. Is this the New Zealand sense of justice and fair play—Yours, etc.,
, A VISITOR. November 20, 1953.
