N.S.W. BUSH FIRES CONTINUE
Three Uncontrolled Outbreaks
(Rec. 11 p.m.)- SYDNEY, Nov. 18. More than 30 bush fires are raging throughout New South Wales. Three, the biggest of them, are out of control. Two big fires which started in the Coff’s Harbour area on the north coast yesterday are still blazing uncontrolled. A new outbreak has occurred in heavily-timbered country in the Lorne state forest, near Kendall. Volunteers are fighting fires in temperatures of more than 100 degrees. At Coff’s Harbour 'hundreds, of firefighters are battling to save banana plantations and bean, pea and tomato crops. The position is described as "explosive.” A big fire, partly out of control, is burning in a state forest near Kempsey, and there is another forest fire near Wauchope. On the south coast, a fire near Milton is burning in timber country. In other areas, fires are raging on private property. More than 30 fires broke out in the Sydney metropolitan area, but all were brought under control, although several were still giving trouble late today.
