UNIVERSITY SITE
Sir,—Why all this row about the university site? Both sides should realise that something has to be done. A compromise such as at Auckland, where boarders use the Tamaki site and others the city, is the ideal answer. In any case, a good clean-up is wanted. The ‘-‘prefabs” should be carted to Ham as temporary accommodation and a lot of the buildings should be razed and a multi-storey edifice erected. This would allow for compactness and play room. The stone salvaged could be utilised for extension of the museum, which is long overdue. . I hope something soon is done about this conglomeration of funereal buildings.—Yours, etc.,
MORTAR BOARD. Hastings, November 15, 1953.
