BRIGADIER AND MRS PEPPER HONOURED

Brigadier E. C. Pepper and Mrs Pepper, of London, who arrived in Christchurch on Tuesday after visiting Auckland and Wellington, were the guests of honour at a 5 o’clock party held yesterday at the Sign of the Takahe. Brigadier Pepper is Warden of London House, a residential centre in London for students frpm all parts of the Commonwealth, and his visit to the Dominion has been undertaken to meet former residents and to enlist suuport for London House. A committee drawn from the former residents of London House, of whom there are about 70 jn Chrjstpbqrch. arranged tfie party, and it proved a nappy gathering, at which the visitors renewed former acquaintances under very pleasant conditions.

Members of the organising committee were Dr. F. A. Suncistrum, Messrs Hamish Hay, Walton Bremner. A. EL MacKenzie, David Poswillp, and Dr. Christopher Gresson. Among speciallv invited guests were the Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt Rev. A. K. Warren) and Mrs Warren. Mr W. T. At the annual meeting of the Christchurch Ladles’ Golf Club, yesterday. Mrs A. C.
