MARKETING OF N.Z. PAPER
OVERSEAS PROSPECTS SIR JAMES FLETCHER REPORTS ON TOUR (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 18. Overseas marketing possibilities for New Zealand pulp "and paper are extremely encouraging, according to Sir James Fletcher, cnairman of the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company’s provisional board of directors. Sir James Fletcher returned last night from a five months’ trip that took him to the United States, Canada, Europe, England, Scotland, Ireland, and Australia. “Everywhere I went I found surprising interest in the Murupara project,” he said today. “Many of those I met were very well informed on what we are doing out here. Without exception, those connected with the industry in Britain, Canada, and the United States expressed confidence that we are on the right lines, and that there is a tremendous future for the pulp and paper industry in New Zealand.” Sir James Fletcher said he had many inquiries from potential buyers of the company’s products. “I am convinced that world markets, though possibly not as strong as they were two years ago, will soon be wanting all the pulp and paper than can be produced. “If the present more hopeful trend in world affairs continues, I feel the world may even face another serious shortage of these products.”
